What does a studio do after they're released every season of a TV show? Why release a complete series set of course! This week we're featuring reviews of the latest series boxed sets including:  Fraggle Rock: The Complete Series Collection - a fantastic show in an attractive binder with some fantastic bonus features; The Cosby Show: 25th Anniversary Commemorative Edition - one of the great TV sitcoms of all time, period, no argument, and it should be in the library of any serious television comedy fan; and The Complete Monty Python's Flying Circus - inarguably the most influential comedy troupe, and probably comedy television program, of the past 40 years. This week the DVD Savant has a number of new reviews including: Casino Royale (1967) - Sony reissues the original Bond Spoof, the Super Spy Mania comedy spectacular starring at least 8 stars, all redubbed James Bond 007; Thunderball [Blu-ray] - Three weeks after arrival, it plays! Bond goes Far Up! Far Down! and Far Out! in the first 007 outing to mine the franchise, and fall apart as a movie. But we lo-ove that boat that splits in two!; and Hancock - Will Smith stars in one of last summer's most welcome surprises, a superhero movie about a discredited super-bum dealing with harsh reality -- and rediscovering the strange rules that govern his super-talents. A few more interesting discs have been announced in the last week or so. Recently announced DVDs and of note include: Hulk Vs. - Marvel Animated Features premieres two all new action packed films together on one release- Hulk Vs. Wolverine and Hulk Vs. Thor; Hamlet 2 - a failed actor-turneed high school drama teacher pts on a self-penned musical sequel to Shakespeare's Hamlet 12-23-08; and several Paul Newman films will appear on DVD for the first time on 2-17-09. It's break-your-wallet week with a bunch of great DVDs being released. Some of the more notable titles include: Wall-E [1st review, 2nd review] - Pixar's latest offering features plenty of colorful characters, a terrific story and an ambitious style that should please fans of all ages; Doctor Who: The Complete Fourth Series [review] - a monumental work of storytelling enhanced by a monumental DVD release; and Tropic Thunder [review]- If you're a fan of watching egomaniacs get their just desserts and want to laugh hard along the way, this is an excellent choice. This week Silent DVD is back with a special guest review of one of the greatest comedies from the silent era: Buster Keaton's The General.
